How It Looks in a Real Room
The map is made up of separate pieces, so the wall remains visible between continents and islands. The angled photos show the depth of those pieces and the shadows along their edges. That is the main visual difference from a framed map print: you are choosing an arrangement on the wall, rather than a single rectangular picture.
In our room, the map sits above a sofa. The wide photo shows the whole composition; the detail photos are more useful for judging the printed geographic detail and layered edges. Use both views when deciding whether this style fits your room.

Installation: Straightforward, but Allow Half a Day
The most useful expectation to set is time. Our XL installation took 4-5 hours, so this was a half-day project. Most of the work was simple. The slower part was identifying where the little islands should go before sticking them down.
Everything needed for our installation came in the package. That experience does not establish the contents of every current bundle: check the listing for your selected model and accessories. The Luminous mounting instructions use double-sided tape and positioning guides, not generic picture-hanging anchors.
Our practical advice is to identify the small pieces before attaching them and keep the supplied placement reference close by. For the full sequence, read our XL installation guide and island tips.
Is XL the Right Size?
XL worked for the installation shown here, but it is not an automatic recommendation for every living room. A map around 79 inches wide is almost as wide as an 80-inch sofa. That creates a different composition from artwork covering roughly two-thirds of the furniture width.
Measure both the available wall and the furniture, then mark the exact product dimensions before ordering. Include space for accessories. Our map size guide separates a narrower above-sofa layout from a larger full-wall display.
What We Can and Cannot Judge
What supports choosing it
- The photos show actual depth and separate pieces on the wall.
- Most installation steps were straightforward in our setup.
- Our box included everything needed for installation.
What to plan around
- Allow 4-5 hours for an XL setup like ours.
- The small islands require patience and a placement reference.
- Measure first; XL can dominate a narrower wall or sofa.
- Adhesive mounting needs a suitable surface and careful removal planning.
We have not documented a timed glow test, paint-safe removal test or long-term fading test. We therefore do not promise a particular glow duration, damage-free removal or decades of unchanged color.
Materials also depend on the collection. For example, the manufacturer describes the current Luminous Mystery model as fiberwood. Do not assume every Enjoy The Wood map is solid wood or birch plywood; check the exact listing. That page is a manufacturer reference, not identification of our precise color variant.
Price, Delivery and Notes for US Buyers
Compare the exact model, size, detail option and accessories in your cart. A starting price for another map is not a useful estimate for this XL version. Our coupon page includes a historical checkout example with the product and discount amounts clearly identified.
- For a US order, select United States and check the currency, shipping to your ZIP code, taxes shown and estimated arrival.
- For another country, use your own destination and the final total shown by the store.
- Check the return terms for your configuration, especially personalized products.
- For a gift, allow time for delivery and installation. A map still in the box is different from a finished wall display.
See our Enjoy The Wood discount code and recorded checkout result before comparing offers. Our installation experience is not a US shipping test.
Our Verdict
The XL Luminous map is worth considering when you want a large, dimensional world map and are happy to spend part of a day installing it. The room photos show what you are buying into, and the installation was mostly simple once the pieces could be identified.
The clearest compromise from our experience is the time spent placing islands. For someone who wants a quick installation, frequently moves their wall art or has limited space, a framed print may be a better fit. Compare those formats in our Enjoy The Wood, Mapiful and Etsy guide.
